Presenting to you the celebrated poet and lyricist Javed Akhtar.

Javed Akhtar’s name has become synonymous with romance, aesthetics and Urdu poetry in contemporary India. His first collection of Urdu poetry ‘Tarkash’ is in its eleventh edition in Hindi, and seventh edition in Urdu. It has received rave reviews both as a book and as India’s first audio book. Akhtarji has written a large number of poems against communalism, social injustice, National Integration and Women’s Rights.

Javed Akhtar was in Bangalore recently at the Bengaluru Poetry Festival and spoke about what makes for good poetry, his poetic journey and read out poems by his grandfather Muztar Khairabadi.
