Active Citizen: Consultation to Prevent Child Marriage and Abuse

The Consortium for Ensuring the Rights of the Child- Karnataka ( CETROC-K) and Karnataka State Task Force for Prevention conducted a two day  public consultation on 26th and 27th September 2016, “Implementation of Existing Laws and Evolving New Systems to Prevent Child Marraiges and Child Abuse”.

Spoke about the need for implementation  of the exisiting laws to prevent child marraige. He lamented that under POCSO Act, “Once a complaint is registered, action must be taken within five months, unfortunately it drags on for five years”.

She emphasised that, “While polices exisit, the need of the hour is “education”
