Jayashree Kulkarni joined the Khadi Gramodyog Vastragara in 1979. The establishment produces bedspreads; silk, cotton and polyester saris; shirts; lungis; handkerchiefs; and polyester shirts among other products. It takes on orders from individuals as well as institutions like colleges.
In the months of October and November, the turnover of the Khadi Gramodyog Vastragara can cross INR 20 lakhs.
Jayashree joined as an accountant for a salary of INR 5 and gradually got involved in many other activities. In this interview with RJ Manjula, she mentions many details about her journey. She emphasises the use of Khadi products and the benefits of such a habit. She also highlights the problems brought on by the recent GST bill.
