Active Cooking: Simple Gojju Avalaki from Chagalatti Lasts Long, Tastes Great

In this episode of Active Cooking, Ashwini from Chagalatti is the featured guest.

Ashwini is a housewife and comes from a big joint family. Her cooking is loved by all family members, with the favourite dish being Avarekai Roti.

In this episode, she shares the recipe and the method of preparation for Gojju Avalaki.

Ingredients:

Avalaki
Tamarind
Sambar Powder
Kadalebele
Kadalebeeja
Jeerigae
Bili Yallu

Preparation:

Soak the Avalaki in water and later grind it.

To the same mix, add the sambar powder and tamarind water.

Season it with kadalebele, peanuts, and then add the jeerigae and Bili Yallu powder.

As onions are not used in this recipe, this dish can be safely preserved for two or three days and consumed.

Usually, Ashwini prepares this type of food so that it can be served at the temple as an offering. But, of course, this dish is great for home-eating, too!
